Alex Harris

Physiotherapist

Bachelor of Physiotherapy

Member Australia Physiotherapy Association (MAPA)

Alex joins the Praxis Team with a passion for musculoskeletal and rehabilitation physiotherapy. Alex has a special interest in chronic pain, head, neck and jaw conditions and sleep medicine.

Before becoming a physiotherapist, Alex worked as a school teacher in the fields of music and physical education. His love and experience with education has transferred seamlessly over to his physio treatments. Alex is a strong believer that advice and education is a key component of physiotherapy treatment.

Alex has a love of sport, like the rest of the Praxis team, especially cricket and golf, which he still plays socially. He would like to work with patients from these two sports so he can develop his knowledge and understanding more, in order to provide the best evidence-based physio he can provide.

Alex’s physio philosophy is “chose the best intervention for each individual patient.” He does not believe in a blanket approach to treatment and prefers to use a mixture of exercise, manual therapy, advice and education to suit each patient’s needs. He also believes that referring on to other medical professions is sometimes indicated if physio is not what the patient requires.

Outside of physio, Alex plays music professionally around the Brisbane and greater southeast regions of Queensland. He has worked part time in the music entertainment industry since he was 18 years old and has no plans to stop playing gigs at pubs, clubs and venues on weekends, Alex’s instruments are primarily guitar, vocals, piano and trumpet. He plays solo, in duos and bands. Due to his special interest and experience in music, he hopes to provide physiotherapy to musicians who require treatment from musculoskeletal conditions, such as painful backs, feet and hands.

Alex is happy seeing a wide range of patients and conditions. He however would like to provide a physio service for Praxis for conditions of the head, neck and jaw. These include, neck pain, TMJ pain, vestibular issues, dizziness, headaches and sleep disorders. He understands some of these conditions can be debilitating and believes that he can be of great assistance if required.
